Lanzarote News :: Hotel Occupancy Levels Hit 84% in August

The swimming pool at the Gran Melia Salinas Hotel 84% of tourist beds were filled in Lanzarote hotels and apartment complexes last month, according to the latest figures just released by ASOLAN. A figure that is up by 5.57% versus August 2009 but still 2.42% shy of August 2008 levels.

The Atlantic Star cruise ship was forced to abandon its course to visit Lisbon and Gibraltar yesterday due to electrical problems. And was forced to dock at Arrecife as a result instead. With 1,500 passengers transported to the airport to catch flights home.

The attraction was the last of the seven Centres of Art and Culture to be created by island born artist, César Manrique and first opened its doors in 1990.
